Patrick Birns

Patrick Birns is excited to be the head coach of Parkland High School Boys Varsity Soccer. Besides being a coach, Patrick has been a Health and Physical Education teacher for 18 years.

While at Parkland since 2011, Coach Birns has produced three championships. The first championship came in 2011 with a LVC win and then again in 2013 with both the LVC and District 11 Championship. Patrick won LVC Coach of the Year in 2011 and in 2013.

Since relocated from Pike County to the Lehigh Valley in 2008, Coach Birns has trained both boys and girls teams for Lehigh Valley United, Parkland Area Soccer Club, Western Lehigh United Soccer Club and Lower Macungie Youth Association. He has also served as an evaluator for selection of the Pocono Snow National Professional Soccer League team.

Prior to coming to the valley, Coach Birns spent nine successful years as head soccer coach at Delaware Valley High School in Milford, PA. He was also the director and owner of Tri-State Soccer Academy. While at Delaware Valley, Coach Birns compiled a record of 100-70-14 and won the 2005 Class AAA District 2 championship. Patrick has taught and coached at numerous camps and clinics, both in the United States and abroad.

Currently, Coach Birns is a Wellness and Fitness teacher in the East Penn School District. He holds both a B.S. and a M.Ed. in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University where he played on the varsity soccer team.

Coach Birns holds various advanced soccer coaching certificates: National “B” License, Advanced National License from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Goalkeeper Level II from NSCAA.

Coach Birns is the current Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association Committee Chairperson for the Ethics and Statistics committees. He is also currently the secretary of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Coaches’ Advisory and Soccer Steering committees. Coach Birns also serves as the Director of Coaching for Parkland Area Soccer Club.

Patrick and his wife have two children both students in the Parkland School District.

Scott Mang

Scott Mang is entering his first season as an assistant coach with Parkland High School. He comes to Parkland from Muhlenberg College where he is currently serving as an assistant coach with the women’s soccer program. During his last seven seasons at Muhlenberg College, he has helped coach the women to one NCAA Tournament appearance and two Centennial Conference Tournament appearances. He has also helped to develop one all-region player and 14 all-conference players.

Prior to coaching with the Mules, coach Mang was the head boy’s varsity soccer coach at Northern Lehigh High School for one season. He spent many hours and worked with both community members and school district administrators helping to create the first varsity soccer program in school history. The school now offers both boy’s and girl’s soccer.

Coach Mang’s first varsity head coaching job was at Northwestern Lehigh High School, which lasted four seasons. During his tenure with the Tigers, his teams earned the 1998 District XI Sportsmanship Award, won the District XI 2A Championship, played twice in the District XI Tournament, and competed in the PIAA State Tournament losing to eventual state champion Octorora High School. In 1999, Mang was also voted as The Morning Call Coach of the Year.

Training club soccer teams is something coach Mang loves doing in his spare time. He is currently coaching his daughters’ PASC Red Devils U12 girl’s team, and has trained teams for PASC, Lehigh Valley United, Lehigh Valley Magic, LMYA and Nazareth Area Soccer Club.

Originally from Lake Wallenpaupack, coach Mang played his college soccer at Fitchburg State College, MA for one season and finished his final three seasons at Bloomsburg University, PA. He started his coaching career with the Huskies, spending two seasons working as an assistant men’s soccer coach.
Mang is a middle school PE/Health Teacher in the Nazareth Area School District and is also a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard having served for eight years. He is proud to say that and completed “boot camp” in beautiful Fort Benning Georgia.

Scott and his wife Megan, have three beautiful daughters; Riley, Kelsey and Sophie.

Andrew Meeker

Andrew Meeker will be entering his sixth season with the Parkland boys’ soccer program. Coach Meeker grew up playing youth soccer and high school soccer for Parkland. He graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2008. Coach Meeker currently teaches 4th grade at Jaindl Elementary in the Parkland School District. Andrew received his Master’s degree in classroom technology in 2014 and his Master’s degree in Online Teaching in 2016 from Wilkes University. He holds a State, Regional, and Goalkeeping level 1 coaching licenses from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). In 2008, he had a short coaching stint with the Boyertown High School JV team.

Andrew resides in the Parkland School District and has a three year old son name Nolan.

Ryan Kleintop

Ryan Kleintop is entering his eighth year with the Parkland High School Boys Soccer program and the fourth as the junior varsity head coach. Coach Kleintop is a 2003 graduate of Parkland High School where he was an All-Area and All-State player in his senior season. He graduated from Penn State University where he was a member of the track team, twice earning Academic All-American honors as a long jumper. He also holds a graduate degree and teaching certification from East Stroudsburg University. He currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Kratzer Elementary School in the Parkland School District. Coach Kleintop is also a member of the Parkland Track and Field staff as the head pole vault coach. Along with the high school programs, Coach Kleintop works with many of the area’s youth teams and organizations, including the Parkland Area Soccer Club’s developmental academy training, and the high school transition program. He holds a USSF National D Coaching License.

Ryan is newly married and lives in the Parkland School District with his wife Amanda.
